So Much Thanksgiving Cuteness

Our students were given a turkey print out and told to disguise their turkey so they can escape Thanksgiving unharmed! They not only had to decorate (disguise) their turkey but to write a story that goes along with the costume. (above is a Tarheel Cheerleader)
Above is a princess and below is Albert Einstein!
And of course the trusty Deputy Sheriff below. They has so much fun and I enjoyed listening to the stories and looking at their awesome projects.
Have I told you how much I love my job?
Working with children is my passion. After years of working in preschool, I am now in elementary school and I'm loving this age group!

I'm so thankful for my job.

On being thankful and unthankfull

There is so much going on this time of year. I can find many things to be thankful for but there a few things that get me a little down and Im NOT thankful for. I suppose thats everyone, we just dont talk about the things that get us down.

For example, Im thankful that my son is healthy and safe thus far. (Im saddened by the fact he isnt home this Thanksgiving but it could be far worse). Im thankful he's alive!

I am thankful that my Future Doctor is healthy over all. We have recently discovered that she has a minor heart issue. It has nothing to do with stress or anxiety. Its an electrical issue. It could be far worse.

I'm thankful for my job. I'm finally in a job that I love and I feel comfortable there. I feel like this is where I belong. I haven't felt this way since I closed my state licensed daycare.

I am thankful that my loved ones are safe. So many have passed away in our community recently. Its perfectly normal for those families to NOT FEEL thankful. Sometimes we simply dont feel thankful. Life gets to us. We always know that there are things to be thankful for but sometimes, we just arent thankful because life gets us down.

Dont look down on those who don't FEEL thankful this holiday season. Just be there for those who need us.(those who are feeling unthankful ) One day, they will be thankful for you.

Thinking

In my small town we have suffered great heartache in recent months. Five people have lost their lives (four of which were in car accidents) These were men and women in their 20's - 30's who were mothers/fathers, husbands/wives and beloved family members. Last night as I was driving home I saw yet another accident where someone had to be extrapolated from a vehicle and life flighted to a hospital. I don't know who that person is but it seems so overwhelming that this many young men and women would leave this Earth all too soon. Children are left with no father or mother and spouses are left with no husband or wife to help raise the children.

While accidents happen all the time it seems an overwhelming amount in our little town. As I thought about this last night I came to the conclusion that we should all see this as a message. Life is short, and we all have our time approaching as every day passes. We never know from moment to moment if we will be the next one to leave this Earth.

If you knew that today was your last day on the Earth, what would you do?

Would you work one more day? (I think not) Would you send one more text message? Would you clean the house one last time?

Or

Would you love your children and spend more time with them? Would you tell your husband or wife how much you love them? Would you pray more and make sure that your life is right with Jesus?

I believe in heave and hell. I believe all our days are numbered and life is short and we should first and foremost make sure that we are living the life Jesus would want us to and secondly love our children and spouses, love your parents and never stop telling them and showing them for today might be your last opportunity.

A Post on Being Busy

Ive been busy!  Ive been busy writing a children's book, going on field trips with my classes to the local Dairy Farm & Duke Homestead. Ive been busy running errands, attending school functions and going to church. Ive been busy organizing Christmas shipping to military.
I guess Ive been a little to busy to blog.
I am so glad that we went to the Dairy Farm! It was amazing to see how this family run farm produces hormone and antibiotic free milk, butter, ice cream and a seasonal egg nog!
The products are not sold everywhere so I will have to make extra stops or drive a little to purchase the milk but I hope to use their milk sold in beautiful glass bottles at least 90% of the time.
Not only will we support a local farmer, help the environment by not throwing away tons of plastic jugs, but we will be consuming fresh hormone and antibiotic free milk that tastes better and is better for us.
With all of these things Ive been busy with, Ive also been working with groups of children with their reading, math, and have also been struggling to adjust to new germs in this new environment. I have been sick too many times and once again I'm in bed sick with pink eye in both eyes and a terrible cough. Ive been taking vitamin C but for now I guess its time to stop being so busy so I can rest, eat chicken soup and take my medicine so my body can rest and catch up to fighting these germs.
