DIY: Coffee Table

Im a show off on the DIY Show Off!!!
Check out all their awesome links after reading my post!

That DIY Party summer link party button

So I went through this "red" phase. I bought everything I saw for the living room that was red! I ended up with too much red. Now, Im redoing the living room, which is HUGE for me because I suck at decorating! Below you will see the coffee table that I, once upon a time, fell in love with. I decided to break up the red,so here's what I did.

Step 1
Sand the coffee table.

Step 2
Use fingers to apply thin layers of Vasoline to the areas you do not want paint to stick to.

Step 3
Start Painting! In my case, I painted only the top.

 Step 4
After the paint is dry, use a wet rag to wipe the table down and remove the paint that is over the Vasoline. Check it out! I love the way it looks!
What I learned.....

Make sure you apply a THIN layer of Vasoline. I used too much and after 6 days I still find spots that need to be wiped down.

When I finish the livingroom, Ill post photos!

She's Crafty!

Recently the girls and I went to The Scrap Exchange to look around. It was 50% off the craft isle and I wanted to check out their rubber stamps. My future "teacher" saw the film slides and remembered a project we saw awhile back. She bought about 50 slides and last night she completed her project.
She purchased a cheap lamp that she liked and cut off the fabric from the shade (leaving only the wire structure) Next, she punched small holes on all four sides of the slides (measure if you try this!) She connected the slides with metal rings and attached them to the wire shade frame.
Her final project looks like this! How cool it is when the light is on and the room is dark.
If you try this project be sure to check out the pictures in the slides before you purchase them or use them!
Dont forget my other blog (for kids) as there is an update on our Lucky Bear the Rescue Dog!

A little Crafty

I told you about the local Dairy Farm that I fell in love with.
Maple View Farms is a family business and they do awesome field trips for children and have the best milk, butter and ice cream around. I love these bottles that their chocolate milk is sold in and I had to think of something to do with them. I made Christmas gifts!
I bought paint that was made for painting on glass. I took my time and poured little bits at a time and moved the bottles around until they were completely covered. Then, I turned them upside down over a paper towel to drain all excess paint out. I let them cure for several days.

Then I used the vinyl rub on letters and designs to create names or designs on them.
I tied a ribbon or rope around the top and there is a nice personalized gift!
